Charlottesville is a foodie paradise and we are lucky to be able to enjoy ingredients from our local region to a great extent. You can check out some of the best options in and around town at The Charlottesville29, or just read on for a few of our favorites!
IN THE BELMONT NEIGHBORHOOD
Lampo – The best Neapolitan pizza in town, but the wait for this tiny upscale spot is long.
Mas Tapas – Spanish tapas style restaurant with shared plates. Expect to wait at peak hours, but the food is worth it.
Conmole: Oaxacan food taken to a whole new level!. Great selection of vegetarian options, casual vibe and comfy eating outdoors all year long!
ON AND NEAR THE MALL
The Whiskey Jar – Southern cuisine with locally sourced ingredients and a formidable whiskey list. A good option for lunch or dinner
Bizou – Comfort food with a slight French accent and a casual setting, indoors or out.
Bang! – Asian style tapas and the best martinis in town.
Now and Zen – Hands down, our favorite for sushi and other Japanese cuisine but plan on a wait, unless you go early or late.
Fleurie – Fancy something a little upscale? Fine French dining with the best local ingredients.
ALONG WEST MAIN STREET
Continental Divide – A tiny Tex-Mex spot with top notch house margaritas.
Public Fish and Oyster – Best fish in town, great oysters. Takes reservations.
Maya – A Cville standard bearer, fusing Southern and European traditions.
Orzo Kitchen – wide ranging mediterranean fare, consistently good and not as loud has some of the hipper spots!.
BREAKFAST
Guajiros Miami Eatery – Bringing the flavors of Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Miami to Charlottesville. Don’t miss the Cuban coffee.
Bodos – Yes, great bagels. Nothing more to say. The most central location is on Preston.
The Blue Moon Diner – On West Main
Marie Bette – On Rose Hill Drive
LUNCH
All of the above breakfast joints are great for lunch, too, plus:
Rapture – Elevated pub food on the Mall
Feast – Gourmet Sandwiches and more. In the Main Street Market on West Main (look for the purple building).
“The Market” – Fantastic sandwiches, well hidden in many of the local Exxon Stations
